OVERVIEW An intimate and remote tented camp, Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp is positioned in the western Okavango Delta in a 7 000 ha private concession. Adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve, Nxabega sits in an area of wetlands, deep channels, wooded islands and grassy floodplains - making a diverse environment to see classic African wildlife such lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo.Spend your time at Nxabega on morning, afternoon and evening game drives or fascinating guided bush walks. To experience the Okavango Delta's tranquil waters first-hand however, you'll be heading out on a tranquil mokoro trip with a skilled guide - sit back and let the natural world unfold. FACILITIES Blending skilfully with the environment, nine exclusive tented suites set on raised wooden platforms are tucked beneath a canopy of ebony trees. Each spacious tent features ensuite bathrooms and private verandas overlooking the reeded floodplain. The heart of Nxabega lies in its handsome living and dining areas, where burnished teak floors and a steeply pitched thatch roof frame a lofty and comfortable space. Made from local timber, reed and thatch, the guest areas include indoor and outdoor dining areas, a Safari Shop and a swimming pool with an expansive viewing deck. From this springboard of comfort, guests are able to appreciate the exquisite beauty of the Okavango Delta. Private bush dinners, breakfasts in bed, lamplit cocktails on a river island or a walking safari with al fresco picnic are all provided with pleasure by Nxabega’s warm and friendly staff. ACTIVITIES Nxabega offers a combination of land- and water-based activities. Guests can explore the crystal clear channels of the Delta on a mokoro or in a motorised boat. Dozens of bird species, frogs and other intimate details of the Delta lay waiting to be explored at eye level. Drive or walk through mature mopane woodlands, seasonally flooded grasslands and the surrounding palm islands where gigantic jackalberry, sausage and wild fig trees grow. Late afternoon game drives continue after nightfall with opportunities to see unbelievable night life. Fishing can be enjoyed by all with a special program designed to keep any children enthralled and engaged. The riverine forest is home to prolific birdlife, including the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, and fruit bats are attracted to the abundant fig trees. All activities are accompanied by a fully trained and licensed guide and a tracker/assistant. |
