Set in a private concession in a rarely visited part of the Chobe River area, Muchenje Safari Lodge has views of the Chobe River and its floodplains as far as the eye can see. This owner-run and managed lodge pays much attention to detail, from decor and accommodation to service and guiding, so you're assured of an intimate and personalised safari experience. Muchenje Safari Lodge’s position on an escarpment of the Chobe River means that it commands exceptional views. Guests can therefore enjoy game viewing from the convenience of their private veranda, the pool deck or one of the viewing decks. Morning, afternoon and even full-day game drives in open 4X4s provide an opportunity to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe and a wide range of classic African animals. Predators such as lion, leopard wild dog are often seen and the region is one of the most prolific birdwatching areas in Africa. FACILITIES Muchenje features only 11 newly refurbished thatched Safari bungalows, each with spacious en-suite facilities. Situated on the escarpment's edge, all the chalets feature their own balcony and unique view of the Chobe River. The main lodge of thatch, wood and stone incorporates light and spacious sitting areas, a bar area, dining area and fabulous viewing deck, all with magnificent views of the Chobe environment.The nearby swimming pool and deck offer excellent views and you can take a reminder of your safari home with you from the lodge's well-stocked curio shop. ACTIVITIES Muchenje is perfectly located for seeing the best that Chobe has to offer.Chobe is famous for its large herds of elephant and buffalo, along with numerous predators- including lions, leopards and wild dogs. There is a great diversity of plains game and an astonishing array of bird species. Enjoy game drives with knowledgeable and friendly professionally qualified guides, either early morning, afternoon or even full days. Experience night game drives in the lodge’s own concession. The guide uses a spotlight to show the local ‘night life’, which can range from the small mammals, to buffalo and elephant. Game viewing by boat on the Chobe River is a wonderful chance to see huge herds of elephants, as well as many other mammals and birds attracted to the water’s edge, not to mention those animals which also live in the River. Bush walking safaris which allow you to learn about the intricacies of the bush where your guide teaches you about the spoor, trees, plants and insects that make for such exciting and interesting additions to the wildlife.
