OVERVIEW
Grassland Bushman Lodge, also known as Grassland Safari Lodge is located about 80 km northeast of Ghanzi in the Central Kalahari. Due to the unique location and immense land size, game viewing is spectacular. As the name suggests, the main activity is based on the cultural activities with the local San people. Guests get the opportunity to meet the local San people and to spend some time with them. This is truly an amazing experience and likewise, this gives the San people a feeling of appreciation as their culture is on the verge of extinction. A wide variety of Kalahari animals and bird species can also be seen on game drives or on horseback, or guests can simply gaze out at the numerous species attracted to Grassland’s own floodlit waterhole, a mere 50 yards away in front of the lodge. FACILITIES Grassland has eight well furnished chalets, each with their own en-suite bathroom accommodating up to 16 guests. A family suite is available to guests travelling with younger children. Two beautiful thatched main buildings contain both an outdoor and indoor dining room. A fully stocked bar is available for sun downers and evening nightcaps. Another unique aspect of the camp is the large swimming pool where guests can enjoy taking a relaxing swim after a long day of game drives and cultural walks in the Kalahari. ACTIVITIES Activities include morning and afternoon game drives where big herds of strictly Kalahari Game can be seen. For the more adventurous, Game walks are offered where Kalahari game can be seen on foot as well as the smaller things the Kalahari has to offer .Sitting around the fire pit at night you are likely to see nocturnal animals like Porcupine, Aardvark, Brown Hyena, Jackal and much more coming to have a drink at the large floodlit natural water pan in front of the camp. Grassland Bushman Lodge offers a horse riding safari suitable for everyone, from experienced horsemen to complete novices. On horseback, not only do you gain a different perspective of your environment, but the game are less wary of the horses, so you are able to get a much closer view of the surrounding wildlife. Guests at Grassland Bushman Lodge are introduced to the local San people, who are all too willing to give you an insight into their world and give guests a true Bushman experience.
