Overland Safaris are graded according to ruggedness from Grade 1 (least rugged) to Grade 5. Grade 4 and 5 Safaris can cover long distances on certain days and the road conditions, heat and dust can sometimes be tiring. The vehicles are specially modified and ideally suitable for safari trips but can not be classified as the ultimate in comfort.

GRADE 1: These safaris are suitable for all healthy people
GRADE 2: These safaris are suitable for all healthy people but involve some hiking
GRADE 3: These safaris are suitable for all reasonably fit people and may involve some hiking
GRADE 4: These safaris are suitable for all reasonably fit people and may involve some fairly rough road conditions, hiking and sometimes canoeing
GRADE 5: These safaris encounter rough road conditions and may involve some long days of travelling, hiking and canoeing and as such are for fit people
