DAY 1: TSODILO HILLS

We depart from Maun at 11h00 this morning, by light aircraft, to Tsodilo Hills, where we will meet our guide and camp staff. The Hills are one of the more rewarding destinations in Botswana - renowned not so much for wildlife, but for the extensive collection of San (Bushman/ Basarwa) Rock Art. Some 3 500 paintings have been identified. After an afternoon visit to some of the more accessible paintings we relax around our campfire, and learn more about the area, and the people who left us such a fascinating legacy.

DAY 2: TSODILO HILLS

After an early breakfast we set out on one of the designated Trails, a walk (and some climbing) of some three or four hours. This will allow us to see some of the more inaccessible, and interesting paintings, whilst also allowing us to enjoy some breath taking scenery. We return to our campsite for a welcome Lunch. This afternoon we have a short visit the local San village, before further investigation of the area. We return to our campsite for dinner.

DAY 3: ETSHA

After an early breakfast we leave for Etsha. Etsha is a collection of 13 villages, some 250km North of Maun. Two tribes live and work in this area: the Hambukushu and Bayei. These tribes are the foremost basket weavers in Botswana, who utilise reeds, and natural dyes from the Delta. They also do a number of carvings, and there are still some traditional blacksmiths in the area. We will also have the opportunity to spend time with the local farmers, learning about their lifestyle, and farming techniques.

DAY 4: MAUN

From Etsha we travel via the now dry Lake Ngami (visited by such early explorers as David Livingstone and Charles John Andersson), to Maun. Our overnight is at Motsentsila Lodge, just outside of Maun.

DAYS 5 & 6: OKAVANGO DELTA

From Maun we transfer by light aircraft into the heart of the Delta. Here we explore the crystal clear channels, islands and waterways by mokoro (dug-out canoe) and undertake game viewing walks on the islands. Our two over-nights are spent at our Afro Ventures campsite in a private concession area, with a complement of camp staff to cater for us.

DAYS 7 & 8: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE

We continue by light aircraft to Khwai, tucked into the north eastern sector of the Okavango. The Reserve was set-aside in 1963 by the Batawana tribe, and is rated as Africa's most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Our days are spent on extensive game viewing drives.

DAYS 9, 10 &11: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

We travel up to Savute and spend a night camped next to the now dry Savute Channel. Depending on the time of year, huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area, and Savute is excellent for lion and other predator viewing. From Savute we move up to northern Chobe and camp for two nights in the Serondela area. This is the heart of elephant country and here we have an opportunity to spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River. Northern Chobe has beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets, with a large variety of bird and animal life.

DAY 12: VICTORIA FALLS

It's a short drive from Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls. Our stay here is always welcomed as a chance to wash off Botswana's dust, relax over a cold beer, and enjoy the varied entertainment and facilities at Victoria Falls. Our entrance fee to the Falls is included in the safari fare. Our overnight accommodation is at The Kingdom Hotel, in twin bedded rooms with private facilities.

DAY 13:

After breakfast at the hotel, the safari terminates.
